Recently, I’ve heard many people make a reference to one of the things that has secured their belief in God is our internal “moral compass” aka, the natural law…
I’m not sure I agree that everyone has an internal moral compass. I have to question how much of that is nuture as opposed to nature…and if nature, how much of that is just part of the evolutionary process? I don’t believe the evolutionary process to exclude this type of thing. Why does it have to be God? Do “feral” children know right from wrong prior to being re-acclimated to a civilization? My ethics, my sense of duty, respect and honor come from things that my parents instilled within me. Apart from “God”, my ethics, my sense of duty, respect and honor have not changed. My standard for living a respectable life has not changed. These were all things instilled in me by my parents…nurture.
